Wikins vs. King James

I'm looking for your opinion.

All I did in high school was argue about sports.

Given my family history, I guess that makes sense.

All I did was argue about sports with a small group of guys. Every single day. In between classes. During lunch. After school. At any one time, there was always some argument about some sport (never hockey).

Anyway, thanks to Facebook, I have found these guys again, and like not one day has passed (about 15 years has), the arguing has started again.

Today's topic, batted around by Smoke, Oronde and myself, is "Who Is The Better In Game Dunker; Dominique Wilkins or Lebron James?"

Watch Wilkins Top 10:

Watch Lebron's Top 10:

Your opinion, please.

  1. Lebron is 6'8" and weighs 260 (althought that figure seems to increase each week). Nique was 6'5" and weighed 220-230. The smaller guy's dunks are more impressive. A guy as big and fast as Lebron should be dunking like that. The fact that Lebron is taller only makes it more impressive that Nique was able to jump to reach the heights he reached. And Nique played in an era where you could possibly be risking serious injury running into the lane so recklessly. People would try to stop Nique from dunking. The resistance, if any at all - because it's usually NONE, that Lebron meets, is token at beast. In most cases people get out of his way and watch him dunk like they paid for a ticket. Today's NBA is soft when it comes to agressive defense or hard fouls. Players who actualy play defense and get physical with offensive players are called "dirty" - Bruce Bowen, James Posey, Ron Artest. And that's about it for the defenders with the heart and ability - oh, there's Shane Battier.
The point is - can you imagine Lebron running into the lane like he usually does for hus dunks on a late '80's/early '90's pistons squad. Negative. How about the Bucks from that era with Lohaus, Sikma and Brickowski?!?!?! Nope. How about the Knicks when they fielded a squad with the likes of Anthony Mason and Derek Harper and Oakley and Ewing??? Another negative.
